Pro Tools Marker Round Trip
MARKR™
Markers out, markers back in.
The Workflow
Send your markers back into Pro Tools
Export Session Info as Text with Include Markers checked, drop it here, hit RENDER, and drag the .mid straight back into your session. Every marker lands at its exact sample position. Cutting in reels? Drop them all, give each an offset, get one merged list.
The Rule
120 BPM is the constant
MARKR always writes a flat 120 BPM tempo map. Keep your session conductor at 120 with no tempo changes and the markers land dead on at 44.1k / 48k.

MARKR™v1.6
Markers out, markers back in.
120 BPM is the constant. MARKR always writes a flat 120 BPM tempo.
Keep your session conductor at 120 and markers land exact.

1 / Drop your marker exports

Drop Session Info as Text files here (one, or one per reel), or click to choose. MARKR-made .mid marker files work too.
In Pro Tools: File > Export > Session Info as Text, with Include Markers checked. You can also paste the text below. Drop several files and each becomes a source with its own timecode offset, merged into one list.
Sources Offset TC   fps
Type an offset as free digits, Pro Tools style: they fill from the right, so 1000000 becomes 01:00:00:00. Each source’s offset is added to every one of its markers.

2 / Drag back into Pro Tools

MARKERS.mid
DRAG OUT →
Drag the tile into the Pro Tools timeline or your Finder. Or click it to save.
The round trip
  1. Export from Pro Tools. File > Export > Session Info as Text. Check Include Markers. For sample accuracy, set the main counter to Samples before exporting.
  2. Render here. Drop or paste that text into MARKR and hit RENDER. Every marker is placed at its exact sample position.
  3. Import back. Drag the rendered .mid straight into the session, or File > Import > MIDI. Set Location: Session Start. Destination can be New Track or Clip List, the markers land on the Markers ruler either way.
  4. Merging reels. Drop several exports (Session Info texts or MARKR .mid files) and each becomes a source with a timecode offset (digits fill from the right, no colons; frames use the fps selector). The offset is added to every marker from that source, so reel 2 typed as 1000000 lands an hour later on the merged list. One RENDER, one .mid, every reel’s markers in place.
120 BPM is the constant. MARKR writes a flat 120 BPM tempo map and places markers sample-exact at 44.1k / 48k. Keep your session conductor at 120 with no tempo changes and the markers land dead on. If positions ever look shifted, re-import with Import Tempo Map enabled, the file carries the matching 120 map.
Notes: Pro Tools renumbers markers in timeline order on import, the names come through verbatim. Markers that were Track markers in the source arrive as ruler markers, re-drop those by hand if needed.
Credits and terms. MARKR runs inside your browser. The only thing it ever sends is your email address, once, when you sign up for the newsletter. Your session files never leave your machine.

PREAMBLE
The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide
development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation
efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and
open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership
with others.

The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and
redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The
fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded,
redistributed and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved
names are not used by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives,
however, cannot be released under any other type of license. The
requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply
to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives.

DEFINITIONS
"Font Software" refers to the set of files released by the Copyright
Holder(s) under this license and clearly marked as such. This may
include source files, build scripts and documentation.

"Reserved Font Name" refers to any names specified as such after the
copyright statement(s).

"Original Version" refers to the collection of Font Software components as
distributed by the Copyright Holder(s).

"Modified Version" refers to any derivative made by adding to, deleting,
or substituting -- in part or in whole -- any of the components of the
Original Version, by changing formats or by porting the Font Software to a
new environment.

"Author" refers to any designer, engineer, programmer, technical
writer or other person who contributed to the Font Software.

1) Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components,
in Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself.

2) Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled,
redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy
contains the above copyright notice and this license. These can be
included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or
in the appropriate machine-readable metadata fields within text or
binary files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user.

3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font
Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding
Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the primary font name as
presented to the users.

4) The name(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) or the Author(s) of the Font
Software shall not be used to promote, endorse or advertise any
Modified Version, except to acknowledge the contribution(s) of the
Copyright Holder(s) and the Author(s) or with their explicit written
permission.

5) The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole,
must be distributed entirely under this license, and must not be
distributed under any other license. The requirement for fonts to
remain under this license does not apply to any document created
using the Font Software.

TERMINATION
This license becomes null and void if any of the above conditions are
not met.
